Have you watched Animal Planet lately? Ever? My own response to those questions happen to be ‘no’ and ‘no.’ I think ever since its launch, the network has had a stigma of a ‘nothing’ channel; somewhere for Discovery to syndicate their vast collection of nature-based shows.

I was pleasantly surprised, then, to see a new campaign for Animal Planet in the subway a few weeks ago. 

I suppose Animal Planet / Discovery realized that there were enough other people out there like me who associated the network with animals and not the actual programming they’re delivering and I’m glad to see such a clever, direct attempt to re-target prospective viewers. Will it get me to start watching Animal Planet now? I don’t know. Maybe if my TiVo picks something up automatically, I’ll watch.
